First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at TorreyCove Capital Partners.
Risk Management Analyst
The interviewers were all really nice and professional. It was a panel of four people at once, and they kept it conversational, asking specific questions now and then. They were mostly focused on seeing if I'd be a good fit for the team's culture.
- Can you tell me about your background?
- What kind of experience did you have during university?
- What are your job aspirations?
Analyst
I applied and heard back, then unexpectedly got put into a group interview. It was a group interview which taught me a lot about the culture at TorreyCove. The people there clearly knew finance, but I got bad vibes from them within the first 5 minutes. They weren't courteous or friendly and asked my questions condescendingly. I didn't feel welcome from the start because everyone seemed stressed. I realized this was the team and culture I might be joining, so even if they offered me the job, I would have turned it down because of this experience.
- What motivates your desire for this position?
Risk Management
Went through 3 interview rounds with some vice presidents and analysts. They were really nice people and asked mostly behavioral questions. They were also very open to my questions, which I appreciated. The atmosphere was great, and I felt a lot of respect, so I think the position is important to them and they're looking for someone who fits the team.
- Can you tell me about a time when a subordinate made a mistake, and what steps did you take to resolve the situation?
Intern
It was pretty long but not difficult. The management team interviewed me in groups of 3 at a time. The whole process took about 3 hours. They were mostly seeing if I would be a good fit with the current team and if I seemed intelligent. All you need to know is in the job training.
- How do you collaborate with teams?
