Project Manager
First, there's a quick video call, about 15 minutes, so make sure your camera and mic are good and you're on time. They want to hear about your past work and check your skills and language. Then, there's a tough test with 100 questions in 40 minutes; you really need experience or to study up. Looking at online test questions can help, especially for agile and PMBOK stuff. After that, you'll have an intense hour-long interview with one of their pros. The first half hour is for questions about PM approaches, managing stakeholders, and risks, plus some situational stuff. The next 30 minutes are hands-on, dealing with a real case. Finally, you'll do a project, which could take anywhere from 4 to 20 hours, and then present it to a specialist.
- Can you solve some Earned Value Management exercises? These were helpful for the test.
- Could you solve several Earned Value Management related exercises, which will help you a lot during the test.
Project Manager
The hiring process starts when you upload your resume to the toptal website after which they would redirect you to hackerrank for an online exam. Once you pass the exam, and for a PM position it is a tough and fast-timed exam, you move on to the initial inteview. During the initial interview, I said I have less than 2 years of Agile experience on IT SW development peojects, but that I had CSM and can learn fairly quickly . The interviewee said that it is their company’s hard requirement and she can’t move my application further …
- Tell me your project management experience.
- Do you have minimum experience running Agile IT software projects?
Senior Project Manager
The process has 3 steps: theory, exercise, and a final round. The first step involves understanding the client's vision and background, interacting with the client or product owner, writing user stories in JIRA, backlog prioritization, and explaining the overall development process. The second step is a conversation with the dev team about the approach to changing man-hours with story points. The final round will cover the remaining aspects.
- Can you detail your technical expertise with JIRA functionalities?
- How do you manage work packages and effort estimation?
- Describe your experience interacting with clients versus product owners.
