Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Topsoe.
Production Engineer
So first thing was a phone screen with the HR Rep, Area Manager, and Production Manager. After that, I got called in for a face to face interview which was panel style. There were 2 HR Reps, the Area Manager, Production Manager, and the Operations Manager there. They mostly asked me behavioral questions about my past experiences, what I liked and disliked about my last job, and how I handled problems.
- What's motivating your job search?
- What were the positives of your previous role?
- What were the negatives of your previous role?
Process Engineer
A third party handled the initial candidate search based on relevant experience. I was contacted about my interest, received the job details, and had to fill out a form. About two months later, I had a face-to-face/Skype technical interview at their office. It was a relaxed, straightforward interview covering basic chemical engineering topics, my past experience, and college projects. It lasted about an hour. This was followed by an online personality test. Another month later, I had an HR interview focused on salary discussions and my enthusiasm for joining. This was also very easy. The offer was confirmed 15 days after that. Note: They specifically seek candidates from reputable engineering schools with strong academic records and excellent communication skills, which are essential. Salary negotiation is minimal as they have many applicants; attempting to negotiate significantly can lead to disqualification.
- Could you provide a full description of your past work experience?
- Tell me about your previous work experience.
Process Engineer
I applied and got a call from a recruiter. After two weeks, I had a video interview with 4 people. The questions asked were unrelated to the job description and some interviewers were not professional. I was not satisfied with the culture and the lack of clarity, so I decided not to proceed.
- Technical questions concerning unrealistic industrial challenges and inquiries about competing companies.
