First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Topps Company.
Graphic Designer
I had an initial chat with the recruitment team. After that, I was told I was moving on to a second interview and a design task. I thought that was a sure thing, but the designer was on vacation, so they gave me the design task first. The brief was really basic: 'design a champions league card in the style of noir.' I got feedback the next afternoon after sending it in, and they told me there wouldn't be an interview because of how the design task turned out, even though the brief wasn't very clear. The feedback they gave was also rude.
- Could you explain your job role as if I were unfamiliar with it?
Software Engineer
I had 3 Zoom calls where we talked about their mobile games nothing was technical. I spoke to the same person twice who was an engineer and then I spoke to a non-technical person. All the conversations were about my related experience
- Can you introduce yourself and walk me through your background?
Marketing
After an initial phone screening, I went in for an in-person interview. The VP I was scheduled to meet had an emergency meeting, so I only met with HR and another person for about 15 minutes. I came back the next week for the interview with the VP, and they said I'd hear back in a few weeks. I thought it went well and sent thank you notes. After trying to follow up multiple times, I never heard back for about a month. I stopped trying then, figuring it was their loss and that their lack of response suggested a poor work ethic regarding communication, which is a big pet peeve of mine (unanswered messages within 48 hours).
- How would you approach market research prior to product launches?
Intern
The interview process was really chill and easy. The lobby had candy and toys, which was a nice touch to calm the nerves. I ended up talking to two people, and was supposed to meet a third, but they weren't available. It felt more like a casual chat where they wanted to understand my interests and personality. They even called me right after to offer me the role.
- Tell me about your interest in working with us.
- Which classes do you enjoy the most?
