It was a really drawn-out interview process that took about 4-6 weeks. It started with a super long 4-hour Zoom interview where I talked to 4 different people in 45-minute blocks. After that, they told me there would be a second round, which was another 2-hour interview with 3 people, again in 45-minute blocks. Then came the background check and drug test. I found it kind of weird how many individual interviews there were, especially since some of them asked the exact same questions, like "tell me about yourself" which I had to answer like 7 times. It felt pretty inefficient. The questions themselves were pretty standard and not too tough. Also, almost every interviewer mentioned how difficult their customers can be, usually after asking about dealing with a difficult customer. I think I'll probably pass on this opportunity.

Behavioral Presentation

This was a very formal interview process for a senior management position, involving meetings with senior executives. A recruiting company usually handles the initial screening. It was followed by a half-day on-site interview. Getting the executives together for a decision proved difficult, and I had almost given up hope due to the delays. The leadership team is very sharp; interviews covered expectations for the role, experience review, and a chance to ask questions.

The interview process started with a phone screen. The first round was with the hiring manager and director. The final round was with the department's Vice President. They asked some strange questions about my SAT/ACT test scores, even though I have years of professional experience. The interview with the Vice President lasted about 15 minutes and felt like he was about to fall asleep. After the interview, we took a tour of the building.

The interview process moved very quickly. When I asked about shadowing the group, there was some hesitation. It consisted of one phone interview and one in-person interview with the Sr. Manager and Business Analyst. They asked very generic behavioral questions. Following the STAR format should be helpful. Make sure to shadow before accepting any offers because this environment might not be for everyone.

  • Describe a time you had to deliver bad news to a superior.
