Behavioral Technical Presentation Case

The interview process was typical of what you find from a tech company. The first step was a short phone screen and from there a more formal 1st interview is scheduled. Following the first interview, I then got to sit in with the hiring manager as I detailed my experience as well as why I thought I was the right fit for the position. There was one more step in which I met with the sales director after that and had to walk through a role-play situation with the chief HR coordinator on the call as well. After meeting once more with the sales director and a VP of revenue, I was offered the position quite quickly. Kelly Zhu from recruiting was outstanding to work with and highly communicative through the whole process. She was able to be my liaison between navigating the steps of the interview process and also cognizant of my needs as a potential employee. She represented the "first impression" of Top Hat and was one of the main reasons that I accepted the position once offered. People like Kelly are why I am happy to call myself a Top Hatter!

Behavioral Technical Other

First, there was a quick 15-minute phone call to chat about your interest in sales and some general questions about what makes a good salesperson. After that, you'll get an online questionnaire to see if you have the right mindset for sales. If you pass that, you'll have an interview that includes the Wonderlic test (it's a good idea to prep for it) and then a 45-minute conversation with a Sales Manager. They'll ask basic questions about your resume, why you want this job, and if you can hit a quota. Lastly, we did a short mock sales call.

Behavioral

This was the worst interview experience I've ever had. The interviewer kept interrupting me and had a negative comment for every answer I gave. He was constantly rolling his eyes and didn't even want to look at my resume, thinking my LinkedIn was sufficient. He missed out on learning about my President's Club awards because he wouldn't let me explain myself. I left feeling really down and hurt. I traveled a long way, paid for parking, walked in the rain, and lost a day of work, only to meet someone who had already decided against me before I even arrived. It makes me wonder why they invited me at all.
