I had a phone screen with a recruiter and a 30-minute interview with the direct manager. The recruiter call was super basic, just checking my availability. The manager interview focused on my experience and salary expectations. The manager seemed really eager to hire, but wanted to pay very little. It's wild how some companies have salary benchmarks that are below market rate.

I applied for the role and was contacted a few days later. I got a call on a holiday, which I wasn't expecting, for a "10 minutes" phone interview. I took it, but during the entire conversation, I felt like the recruiter was intentionally misinterpreting everything I said in a negative way, making me feel confused and uncomfortable. It really seemed like the recruiter wasn't interested in hiring me, so when I got rejected a couple of days later, I wasn't surprised.
