First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Tomo.
BDR
Had a quick intro call to get to know each other and the job. Then, I had to answer some questions via email, including one about where I see myself at tomo in a year. Finally, I had a zoom call with a BDR lead and the hiring manager where they asked basic BDR questions.
- Tell me about your motivation for working in sales.
- What are your reasons for wanting to work at tomo?
- What drives you?
Sales Associate
I actually had a pretty bad experience with Zillow's hiring process, getting ghosted a few times. Back in 2021, they offered me a role that seemed like a mix of sales and coordination, but I turned it down because it felt too good to be true, and apparently it was. A friend of mine who left Zillow actually took that job and was laid off within a year. A couple of years later, they reached out to me again for a sales position. The recruiter sounded really frustrated when screening me for this role. They said they'd call me back, but they never did, and I never even got a rejection email.
- Can you describe your most successful sale?
Loan Processor
First, there was a phone screen with a recruiter. If my qualifications seemed to be a good fit, I was given a take-home test. This test included two multi-part questions asking how I'd handle various scenarios. After that, I interviewed with the hiring manager.
- What is your motivation for seeking employment at Tomo?
Senior Software Engineer
My interview experience with Tomo was really wonderful. Every round was scheduled quickly and each interviewer was friendly, engaged, and asked thought-provoking questions. The take-home technical test was interesting to work on. It had strongly-suggested boundaries for time and completion. Rather than the pressure of a live coding LeetCode-style question, the goal was to foster discussion and collaboration while highlighting personal strengths. Another candidate ended up making it through the process faster than me, but I received a kind, personalized rejection email and an offer to connect for future opportunities. The experience was one of my favorite processes out of the many companies I interviewed with. Tomo treats candidates like human beings — a surprisingly rare thing in the current market.
- If you had more time, what additional features might you have incorporated into your project?
