First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Tommy John.
Customer Experience Lead
The interview process was pretty chill and conversational. I chatted with two people from the company over Google Meet, and the whole thing took a bit over an hour. The questions weren't tough at all. Even though I didn't get the job, they totally ghosted me and never followed up. They didn't even send a courtesy email to say they went with someone else. I have my own ideas why I didn't get picked, but I expected better from a luxury brand.
- What personal traits do you have that you are trying to improve?
Bra Specialist
The staff was really nice and helpful. They made me feel excited about the possibility of getting the job. Since it's a growing company, my experience would be really valuable in looking at lingerie and customer feedback. The team seems invested in employee development.
- Could you tell me about your previous experience?
- Do you have experience with clienteling?
- What are your thoughts on working in a small boutique environment?
Web Designer
The CEO reached out to me on LinkedIn about a potential opportunity. A week later, I went to their office to meet with him and the Marketing Director. They didn't have a formal job description but asked a lot of specific questions about what I'd change about their brand, website, and assets. They gave a brief overview of the company and asked about my background, including who I've worked with on past projects. When I asked questions, their answers about the daily tasks were vague, but they did explain their needs and how this role could help. The interview was pretty casual and friendly overall.
- In what ways could you help Tommy John stand out from other underwear brands?
- What improvements would you suggest for the Tommy John brand, website, and assets?
- Could you discuss your background and highlight specific collaborators on your portfolio projects and in your current job?
Designer
I heard back from the HR Generalist the same day I submitted my resume. The first step was a phone interview, and the second step involved visiting their office to meet the Head of Department, the Head of HR, and the owner, Tom. Tom seemed like a really great guy. The office itself is modern and updated. While they seem like a good group, it was very clear that cultural fit was more important to them than skills.
- Given that we know every underwear designer in the country, why should we hire you when you come from a different background?
