The interview process was pretty straightforward and well-organized. The questions were basic and directly tested my knowledge of the industry and my interest in the company. They were a bit slow with email responses, though.

I applied online and did a questionnaire with my CV. Soon after, I got a video interview to do within 48 hours. A good tip is to use your phone so you can re-record if needed, unlike on a laptop. Then, I was contacted for a face-to-face interview a few days later. During the interview, they asked a few questions in a very relaxed setting. I focused on selling myself to them. They'll ask about luxury and what it means to you, why Tom Ford, and what you can bring. Do your research on Tom Ford; his philosophy is fragrance and lipstick – definitely mention that! If successful, they'll contact you for a trade test, which is basically to see you in action behind the counter with customers and to assess your makeup skills. I was given 45 minutes to do a full face of makeup, and it's important to engage with the 'model/customer,' explaining your process and product choices.

I applied online and got an email about two weeks later for a group interview at the Estée Lauder headquarters. We did some group work at our tables and then had one-on-one interviews as the last part. I expected it to be really high-class and intimidating because it's a luxury brand, but it was actually really nice and not scary at all! The group interview was super relaxed, unlike other ones I've done. Even though I prepared a ton of answers and expected role-playing, they didn't ask many questions, but you did get to talk. First, there was an intro and the question 'who is tom ford?' You really need to know this! Nobody in my group knew, but I spoke up. This is your chance! Then, we talked to a partner about their name, two interesting work facts, and one random fact. TIP: For the random fact, try to make it sound good for the job, like mentioning you speak another language. It's important to present your partner well, so listen up and be confident. Next was a store simulation activity. In our group, we got a list of 9 scenarios (like an angry customer or broken glass) and had to rank them from most to least important. Rule: Customer issues ALWAYS come first, and things like thieves, phones, and stock go last. Then came a roleplay. I thought we'd present it to the group, but we didn't. We partnered up and got a scenario, like 'you're shopping for someone with picky taste.' You act out how you'd be as a sales associate while interviewers watch. Afterwards, they asked who thought their partner did a great job selling. TIP: Say your partner did, even if they didn't! I totally exaggerated what my partner did. It's key for your partner to speak up for you, but it's not guaranteed, like what happened with my partner. I said something like '_ did great selling me this perfume because she was so passionate about it! Her passion made me interested. She offered two, I was unsure, but she gave me a sample, so I'll probably buy it!' Finally, the one-on-one interviews asking 'why do you want to work for tom ford.' We had a big paper to draw symbols about why we want to work there. During this, they pulled us aside for short one-on-ones. TIP: The drawings are your last shot to speak up in the group. Stick to the question: WHY you want to work there, not WHAT Tom Ford is. I drew a house for 'strong heritage.' This interview wasn't scary at all and was the best I've had. So don't worry! Just prep simple answers and speak up. EXTRA TIPS: 1. Grooming is key; some girls weren't well-presented. - Brush and tie your hair back, out of your face. - This is Tom Ford, not MAC. Keep makeup simple and sophisticated, not clownish. - Be clean (yes, someone didn't brush her teeth). - Wear all black, classic and chic. No sky-high heels. I wore culottes, a button-up shirt, and boots. 2. Smile, look confident, and show you're listening.

So you're interviewing for a Product Specialist role with Tom Ford at Neiman Marcus. You first apply online and do a personality test. I also went straight to HR and introduced myself, which I think made a difference. I got a call the next day for an interview the day after that. My first interview was with 3 people back-to-back, and they won't move you on if they don't like you. This part focused mostly on Neiman Marcus. Then, about 5 days later, I got a call for what they called a 3rd interview with the Tom Ford Account Executive. I interviewed with them for about an hour, and it was way more intense with questions I wasn't ready for, a bit more out there than usual. Dress code: a suit (skirt or pants with a blazer), simple makeup, and minimal jewelry. Even though Tom Ford is about fashion, the beauty line is subtle, they want the makeup to stand out on its own. I wore a suit for the first interview, then a bit edgier for the Tom Ford one, which was fine, but the Account Exec did mention I wouldn't be wearing those pants to work. Also, make your hair straight and sleek, not curly like I did the second time. Blend everything really well.
