First, there's an online form with tech questions, mostly about React and modern JS. If you pass, they'll schedule a 1-hour interview with the frontend lead for your experience and a small programming logic test. Then comes a paid test week, which is the toughest part. The codebase is huge and intimidating at first, and you'll need to figure things out with little guidance. If that goes well, the final step is a 1-hour casual chat with the engineering manager about what you'll be doing at toggl (this last talk isn't a pass/fail thing).

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • What does a generator function output?
  • Can you explain Async/Await and promises?
  • How would you approach this programming logic problem?

The process is pretty simple and detailed on Toggl's website. First, you take a 15-25 minute online test. If accepted, you do a 1-hour interview with the team lead, mostly general questions and a simple coding challenge at the end. If accepted, you go for a test week where you meet the team and work on issues on the actual product. The issue's difficulty vary, especially since the codebase is quite big XD. If accepted, you have a meeting with the CEO or someone from the leadership team. If you've arrived at this point you're very likely accepted since people don't usually get rejected at this stage XD. Then, you get an offer! πŸŽ‰

I took an online test, which I passed well. But after that, they stopped the process without much explanation. Just a generic email saying they had many candidates, and even though I seemed to fit, they needed someone else. It would be better if they put this info in the job description to save everyone time. Total waste of time.

Confirmed questions4 questions
  • How do you prevent re-rendering in React?
  • Can you explain PureComponent and PureFunction?
  • Explain the concept of binding 'this' in JavaScript.
