& Process

I applied online via LinkedIn and got a call for a phone screen. The technical phone screen was fine, covering topics like the difference between Interface and Abstract class, Javascript questions about Ajax, and Database questions on Joins and Subqueries. After passing that, I was invited for an onsite interview. Honestly, this company has no clue how to conduct an onsite interview, and the CTO has a lot of attitude. They put me in a tiny 4x4' room with three interviewers at once. They couldn't even decide what questions to ask, fighting amongst themselves for minutes about it, which totally threw me off. They'd ask me to describe a project, then rudely interrupt to ask a question, and the CTO would jump on the board, answer it himself, and then ask me why I didn't do it that way. Sometimes, management decides on the technology for a project, and it might not be the best choice. When I started to explain, they'd say I didn't need to explain so much. Regardless of their programming skills, they had a terrible attitude. After a while, I lost my train of thought because i) it was so hot I could barely breathe, ii) they were arguing about questions, and iii) they kept interrupting me rudely. I really wouldn't want to work with people like that. They also rate you on a scale. Whether or not you get an offer is one thing, but people should at least behave professionally and be nice to candidates who spend their time and energy interviewing.

So the interview process started with a project even before a phone interview. After that, there was a phone interview, then an in-person interview, and then another project. I put in all this work and didn't even get a response. After following up with a thank you, a second project, and a follow-up email, still nothing. I do wish the emails before the in-person interview had given directions on how to get to the office complex. Tobi's office is upstairs, but there's no receptionist, so you have to knock and hope someone comes by to let you in. Really weird!

The interview process has 3 steps. First, there's a phone screening. Then, you'll do a copywriting test where they'll give you a photo and ask you to write different kinds of copy for it, like captions and headlines. Finally, there's an in-person interview.

I just applied online with other temp workers, filled out the application, took a personality test, figured out my payment method (debit or card), and turned in my resume. Then I was hired on the spot. All of us temps got hired.
