First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at TKDA.
Mechanical Engineer
I had a couple of phone calls and attended an open house a couple of months before the main interview. Because I wasn't in the twin cities area, I did the interview over video. Apart from a weird setup where the camera was pointing down at them from what seemed like 8 or 9 feet up, the interview went well. It's pretty conversational, they ask a lot about personal situations from past jobs or school.
- Tell me about a time you had to resolve conflict.
Electrical Engineer
I saw the job ad online and sent in my resume. After a quick phone chat, they set up the first group interview. Then, a week later, another group interview was arranged through email and phone calls. They called me back after each step and sent informative emails between stages.
- How would your skills stand out compared to those of competitors?
- Given a stack of napkins with a design idea on them, what's your process for reaching a conclusion?
Graduate Engineer
I was invited to a recruiting event by HR first. HR was great to communicate with during the whole process and they explained the offer and benefits. The interview with the team was virtual, and there was no in-person follow-up.
- What is your motivation for liking TKDA?
Manager
The interview process was pleasant and not lengthy. It wasn't difficult and seemed passable. The atmosphere was welcoming, with two interviewers present: the owner and the area manager, who also handles HR duties.
- Can you tell me about your goals?
