Program Manager
My interviews at Rovi were comprehensive, fair, and interesting. I met some seasoned leaders, who definitely know their product and processes. I met with about 12 people, some in pairs, and recommend those interviewing push for the same, because these meetings were very informative.
- Can you share an example of a challenging project you managed and how you handled the difficulties?
- Please elaborate on your understanding and experience with Agile.
- What are your thoughts on Rovi's current processes and any challenges you foresee?

The process started with a surprise email confirming my interview for the next day, a month after applying, with no prior discussion. The first round was with the hiring manager and their manager, lasting about an hour, with the latter being late and rushed. A week later, I had a half-day of interviews with about six people, which was uneventful, and I never saw the hiring manager again. Apparently, the role changed from contract to full-time without notice. Two weeks later, I got another 'confirming my interview' email for more people, and I wasn't sure if it was for the same position. Two of the five people scheduled didn't show up, with one mentioning they declined the meeting. Promises of feedback by 'next week' turned into 'the new year' and then 'the end of January'. After chasing, they said the position wasn't being filled. Three weeks later, the manager's manager called to see if I was still interested and wanted to schedule another meeting, but I never heard back. It was a disorganized process that put me off the company.
- Tell me about your program management experience.
- Describe a time you worked with difficult people and how you managed that situation.
Engineering Program Manager
The interview process involved a phone interview, followed by an on-site interview. The entire process, from the initial call to the final decision, lasted for two weeks. The HR team was very professional and the people were nice. A peculiar detail was that they provided a sandwich and soda for lunch during one of the interviews.
- Technical question.
