& Process

It was a straightforward and pleasant interview. The staff and managers were really nice and welcoming. They asked me about my background and my aspirations. They seemed genuinely interested in me and if I'd be a good fit for the company. It went really well, and I'd suggest them to anyone in the area looking for a cool, relaxed work environment.

The interview process was pretty simple. It was a standard in-person interview that lasted around 30 minutes. They asked the kind of questions you'd find if you Googled 'standard interview questions.' Nothing new or creative.

They want to see that you are passionate about what you will be teaching and that you have enough knowledge about it. They want to know your background and past experiences as a boxer. They can train you if you don't feel ready to coach.

I applied online and got a response over a week later with an invite to come in the next day and take an hour long class (and instructed to arrive half hour early for a tour) then meet with several people afterwards. So a total of two hours of my time commitment with only 24 hrs notice. I replied within a few hours saying I'd be happy to come in, but I had a few questions about the position. I asked about the training process which was listed as required in the ad, how long that took to complete, and also about health insurance as well as the kind of schedule they were looking for - all questions very important to know ahead of time so I don't waste my time or theirs coming in only to find out the job isn't going to logistically work for me. She wrote back that night rudely saying that she wouldn't answer those questions until after I'd come in and taken the class, tour, interview, etc. I wrote back saying it didn't seem like this position was a good fit for me and declining to come in. I guess she took this personally because she wrote back after the time of my scheduled interview informing me that after reviewing my resume, they weren't interested in hiring me (after I had already declined!). Obviously I dodged a bullet if this is how they treat their potential employees and I wouldn't recommend anyone else seriously consider this company or condone this behavior.
