First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Tintri.
Software Engineer
It was a 3-stage process, with one phone screen and two rounds of onsite technical interviews. The phone screen covered my previous projects, tools, programming languages, unit testing frameworks, and my role/responsibilities. The onsite interviews focused on coding and problem-solving skills, and understanding my current projects. I had to explain my projects, their architecture, and the trade-offs. During the coding parts, they asked about the complexity and potential improvements. I was also asked about multi-tasking, but since I didn't have much experience, we moved on.
- Technical questions were asked, such as algorithms, problem-solving coding, and multi-tasking.
Senior Software Engineer
Recruiter contacted me, after 30-40 mins phone interview, In phone interview i was asked to solve one problem(basic python problem).On-site Interview seemed fabricated. They probably selected their own candidate(may be referenced by someone from team) already but just to show off upper management they scanned all candidates , they wanted to interview me.I did well in interview procedure but i got rejection.I solved all the problems given by interviewers except one (which was not relevant to my work). I solved one problem which was not solved in traditional style( unfortunately, interviewer apparently only know that method) and started to argue with me and proved me wrong.( what an ignorance, may be interviewer learnt a moment ago about it!!!!). I was pretty disappointed with interviewers but i would like to thank them.after a month later, i got another offer from a well known company with more pay scale and flexible location. ( its really hard to get in still i cleared ). if you play this kind of politics , its really bad for your company and your company culture. you may think i am writing this review because i did not get offer but its not about it. i got offers from many other good companies after your rejection( for the same position), i am writing this review so HR people who work inside company can see and evolute company's work ethics and recruitment policies.
- Can you tell us about your work?
- Solve a basic data structure problem.
- Solve a basic problem solving question.
Software Engineer
I got a call through a reference and then did a phone screen, followed by an onsite interview. The onsite involved meeting with three people and having lunch with the hiring manager. They asked some coding questions in Python and C, which weren't too difficult. They also asked about networking concepts like TCP, UDP, and some other protocols. The hiring process was really quick; within a week, I had completed the phone screen, onsite, and received an offer.
