I applied on the company website and was contacted by a recruiter. The first phone call was with a recruiter and it went really well. We talked about my experience, the company, and the job details. The second round was a live coding session on a platform like HackerRank, with the hiring manager and an Android dev. I was supposed to get hypothetical data from an API and show it on the screen. I think they wanted to see how I'd structure it, but I just started coding right away, which was a mistake. There was supposed to be a third round, but I didn't get to it. I never got any feedback, just a generic rejection email.

I applied online and heard back from a recruiter about 3 weeks later. We had a 15-min chat about the company and my background. Later that day, the recruiter emailed to set up a technical interview. The technical interview was 45 min long. I discussed my resume, got asked some Android-specific questions, and then worked on a coding problem in a shared document.

I was referred by an employee and they reached out by email for a quick 10 minute recruiter call, no tech questions. Then they flew me out for an on-site with hotel accommodations. The on-site had two parts: First, I had a couple hours to build a simple Android app from a few loose ideas. Then I had to present the app and my code to a panel of Android engineers and answer their questions about my design choices and Android in general. Second, I had two one-on-one whiteboard coding interviews with standard questions, pretty much like you'd see at a Google on-site. It was a fun interview process, I had a great time even though I didn't get an offer.
