First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Timken.
Analyst
A Timken recruiter reached out and I had a quick phone screen with them. The next day, I was invited for an on-site interview and received an agenda. I ended up having four interviews: three one-on-one sessions and one panel interview. I felt the interviews themselves went really well and the staff was great. The whole process was quick and smooth, but I haven't heard back in over a month. The job is now listed as filled on their site, and that's it. After all the time I invested, I expected at least a rejection notice.
- What is your highest level of proficiency in Excel?
Analyst
They have a set of standard questions and a panel grades your answers. The big thing is how logically you present your answer; presentation can be more important than the actual content. They care more about your speaking skills than your answers. This company has way too many meetings, I was in meetings for about 24 hours a week on average, sometimes for 8 hours straight. Upper management schedules meetings to seem busy.
- Can you describe an error you made and how you corrected it?
- Tell me about a time you had a disagreement with a colleague and how you handled it.
Analyst
The interview process was great. It started with a phone interview where they were very informative and helpful in identifying my career goals to determine if we were the right fit. It's a great company with a long history.
- Can you tell us about your background?
- Can you explain the role?
