First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Times Newspapers.
Journalist
First, I had a coffee meeting, then an online meeting with the head of HR and an editor, followed by a final meeting with the top editor and their team.
- What story ideas do you have?
UX Designer
It was a 3 step process. The first two interviews were remote, and the final one was in person. For the final interview, they gave me a design task beforehand that I had to present my thinking on.
- Do you lean more towards UX research or UI design?
Staff Reporter
After I sent in my clips and resume, someone got in touch about a month later about an interview. We set it up for about three weeks out. The interview itself took about 40 minutes and was with the publisher for all three of the company's newspapers. It felt more like a conversation, a back-and-forth thing, instead of a strict Q&A.
- Can you tell me about a time you faced a challenge and how you dealt with it?
Picture Editor
The interview experience was good and the questions asked were relevant and engaging. I was interviewed by three people and felt at ease, though the atmosphere was professional rather than relaxed.
- What are your strategies for handling challenging individuals?
