First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at TIMAC AGRO International.
Sales Trainee
It was about a half-hour interview where I was asked to introduce myself, talk about my professional background, my education, and why I wanted this particular job. I was also asked how I would fit into the role.
- Why did you want to study agronomy?
- Why did you want this job?
- How would you fit into this role?
Sales
I was contacted after submitting my resume for a specialty sales position. Initially, we scheduled a phone interview for 11 am, but the recruiter suggested 10 am, which I agreed to. However, that morning, they emailed saying 11 am was fine, then called me at 10:15 am anyway. I did well enough in the phone interview to be considered for an in-person interview. We set a date, but it was changed because the business unit director had shoulder surgery. A bit later, I got another email from the recruiter canceling the interview altogether because they weren't filling the position anymore (even though it's still listed online, which seems a bit shady).
- Could you tell me about your background?
- Please elaborate on your past sales experience, specifically your success in farmer-level sales.
Sales Representative
The process had 3 interviews. The first was a call with the supervisor to get to know each other. The second involved answering questionnaires and questions about fertilizer calculations (recommendations for use). The third interview was with 2 managers and 10 supervisors, involving a sales dynamics exercise. For this last interview, I had to travel to the determined city and spend the whole day listening to all candidates, even though they were for different positions. The dynamic used by the company is very weak, as they asked us to sell objects in situations outside the context of fertilizer sales/commercialization. For example, selling a comb to a bald person, a toothbrush to someone with no teeth, or a pair of sneakers to people with one leg. I find this evaluation context to be far below expectations for a multinational company, especially when the process includes highly qualified individuals who could address technical and commercial issues related to the nutritional sector, rather than people unqualified for technical sales, just selling for the sake of selling. It's also very contradictory, because the process asks us to value the brand and sell quality products with a higher value than competitors, yet they interview us as if we were unqualified for such a task.
- Can you tell me about your professional background and experience?
- How do you manage your existing client base and what strategies do you use?
- Describe your approach to closing challenging sales, particularly those involving high-value products.
