I'm amazed how a company, an iconic brand of the PNW, can treat candidates with such disregard. I got a message from a stakeholder on social media about a "sweet opportunity" at Tillamook, asking if I wanted to discuss it further. Yes! Absolutely! No response. Repeated follow up. No acknowledgement, no nothing. In the mean time, I applied through the website. No acknowledgement. No response. Looked this morning. Job is closed. No email saying anything. For such a popular company, these folks really treat candidates poorly. Maybe it's just the department, maybe it's the whole culture. This used to be one of my top places I wanted to work. I won't apply again. Not that anyone cares....

The interview process was efficient and respectful. My initial phone screen was really productive and I appreciated the Tillamook HR person's transparency about the role and the company. I ended up withdrawing my application as I decided I wasn't open to relo, and the team was gracious and understanding throughout the process.

The hiring process at Tillamook felt disorganized, like they just wanted to get through it. It was a weird and impersonal experience, not what I'd expect from a B-Corp. First, there was a recruiter call where they didn't explain the company or role and just jumped into questions. The job ad didn't list pay, and it was lower than market, with only 7 days PTO for the first year. Then, a casual chat with the hiring manager about company values and standard finance questions. The final round was in-person, starting with a panel of HR, Finance, and Brand folks. It was a 60-minute mess of them firing questions without order from their lists, talking over each other. After that, I met the CFO who initially said I was behind in my career, then backtracked, and asked more typical interview questions. Two weeks after the onsite, I hadn't heard back, so I followed up with the recruiter. He promised an update that day but never sent one. I eventually got an automated rejection email.

The hiring process was quite drawn out, with five interviews spread over two to three weeks. I had really positive interactions with everyone during the active part of the interviews, and I felt a good connection. However, things got a bit strange afterwards, and I felt like they were leading me on for weeks under false pretenses. Initially, I was told the final candidate would present to the Executive team. Then, they changed their mind and said no presentation was needed. But after five hours of interviews, they invited me to do a presentation after all. The day before the presentation was supposed to happen, they cancelled it, saying the other candidate had withdrawn and they needed to find a new competitor. We agreed to touch base in two weeks. Three weeks later, they finally informed me they had moved on with a different candidate instead of rescheduling the presentation. This whole experience left me feeling frustrated and confused. I was really enthusiastic about the role and what I could contribute. But, honestly, the poor communication and disorganization made me feel like I might have dodged a bullet.
