First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at TigerDirect.
Sales Associate
I applied online and got a call back real quick, like 1-3 days later, for an in-person interview. It was a group thing with a bunch of other people looking for the same kind of job. They called us in one by one to a room for the interview. The store's General Manager and the Operations Manager were there. The GM asked me stuff about how I'd handle situations and also asked me about things on my resume. After my interview, they went out to chat and told me to hang tight until they were done with everyone else. You could totally tell who was getting hired when they started letting people go. After about a fourth of us were left, the managers gave us a packet with company terms and a form for a drug test and background check, telling us to get them back ASAP.
- The GM handed me a pen and asked me to sell it to him.
Merchandising Supervisor
You put in an application online and then you wait for them to call you. You could try calling the store, but no one there has any information. The first interview is with the sales manager, then you interview with the general manager. After that, you have an interview with the district manager, and then a phone interview with someone from corporate. The whole thing took about two months. There's a background check, a thick packet to fill out, and a drug test.
- Tell me about your experience in retail merchandising.
- How do you manage inventory and stock?
- Can you share an example of motivating a team for sales?
Account Manager
Got a phone screen with the recruiter first. Then met with the Sales Manager in person for a really in-depth chat to make sure I got the job and the company vibe. Once he figured I was a good match, he handed me the paperwork to complete and then told me where to go for the drug test. After the background check cleared, they made an offer.
- Can you walk me through your resume?
- What makes you believe you'd be a good fit for this company?
Merchant
The interview was quick and the questions were pretty basic, not really digging deep. It felt like the interviewer wasn't super prepared, which didn't make the role look that great. The whole thing was pretty standard, like they just had to go through the motions instead of really trying to find good people.
- Can you tell me about something you were most proud of from your last job?
