First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at ThousandEyes.
Customer Support Engineer
It was a long process with several interviews. First, an HR interview. Then, an interview with the Hiring Manager. After that, a 'homework' assignment. Then a technical interview covering Networking, problem-solving, and event analysis. Finally, a technical panel interview with different types of questions.
- Questions about Networking
- Questions about Problem-solving
- Questions about event analysis
Network Support Engineer
Started with a phone screen, then a Zoom call with the Team Lead, which was pretty formal. After that, I had a homework exercise with 2 technical questions related to the job and 1 behavioral question. Then, a Zoom call with the Team Manager to go over the homework and ask more technical questions. The whole thing took almost 2 months, and I ended up with no offer and no clear explanation why, even though I thought I was a strong candidate at the end.
- How does the ThousandEyes Platform handle DNS processes?
- Can you describe how to troubleshoot a certificate error issue?
Network Support Engineer
The hiring process started with an HR interview covering salary expectations, job details, and the general interview plan. Next was a management interview with general troubleshooting and personal questions, which wasn't too tough. After that, I had to complete an assignment with questions about how traceroute works and how the ThousandEyes agent is installed. The third round involved discussing my assignment answers, diving into general networking concepts, and some Linux. I was then told I'd get an offer and they wanted to proceed. Sadly, after two weeks and then a month with no response to follow-ups, I was ghosted. Total waste of time going through the entire process just to be ignored after acceptance.
- Can you explain the functionality and mechanism of traceroute?
- What is your approach when dealing with a frustrated customer?
- How do you check for running processes on a Linux system?
