I was contacted by a Thoropass recruiter on LinkedIn for an open role. After a hiring manager interview, I followed up multiple times for an update but got no response. The recruiter was posting about running a marathon and the role being filled, without telling me directly. I get that roles get filled, but candidates deserve a response, especially since the recruiter said they had 40 applicants and the interviewed ones had 'weird backgrounds'. I hope Thoropass improves their communication.

The recruiter I spoke with was nice, but at the end, she mentioned that they were trying to fill important stakeholder jobs and also that the company doesn't pay at the top of their advertised salary range, even if you have a ton of experience. I'm actually looking into reporting them to the NY Department of Labor because NY has pretty strict rules about how companies advertise salaries, and I think they might have broken them by posting a salary they don't plan on actually paying.

I applied and they emailed me the next week to schedule an interview. They communicated well and quickly before the interview. They gave me positive feedback at the end and said they'd be in touch. Then I got an automated rejection email the following week. I tried to reach out to the recruiter I was talking to, but they ghosted me after. I asked for feedback and ways to improve, and thanked them for their time and wished them luck finding someone, but got no response or feedback on how to align better.
