First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Thompson Law.
Paralegal
First, you’ll do a phone screen with one of their recruiters. Then, you’ll meet with 2-3 people who hold the job title you are applying for, usually who ones who have been successful in the role and our members of their operations team. Depending on what you are applying for, you might also meet with some attorneys. Generally, the process is pretty fast for non-attorney hires.
- Can you describe your experience working in a high-volume environment and how you manage your workload?
Paralegal
I interviewed for a paralegal/case manager role focused on treatment. The process involved an HR interview covering fit and my resume, discussions with attorneys, and conversations with individuals currently in the position. They wanted to gauge my understanding of personal injury cases and the implications of various injuries. While not overly difficult if you have prior PI experience, it was a bit more challenging than some other PI interviews I've encountered.
- Given a scenario with car property damage and described injuries, how would you manage it if comparative negligence was involved?
Legal Assistant/Paralegal
I first spoke with the firm administrator over the phone. Then, I interviewed with current paralegals and the attorney who is now my boss. They really dug into my knowledge of personal injury law, asking about hypothetical scenarios involving car crashes, truck accidents, motorcycle accidents, pedestrian accidents, slip-and-falls, and construction injuries. They also asked a lot about how I handle difficult clients and provide customer service. It was a pretty detailed process, but because I'm already a paralegal with personal injury experience, it was manageable.
- Given specific injuries and positive MRI findings, how would you determine the value of a car wreck case, and was the medical treatment appropriate?
- Negotiate a settlement with a former insurance adjuster.
- After the negotiation, would you say the offer is reasonable, or is litigation the better path?
Digital Marketing Coordinator
I was DIRECTLY REQUESTED to apply for this position, which I did. In less than six hours, I received a standard rejection email. This really shows how unorganized this company is and how little they respect people. I'd strongly advise against this company.
- Would you consider applying for this role?
