First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Thomas Keller Restaurant Group.
Chef De Partie
I did a stage at Regiis Ova Caviar Lounge, where everyone was super professional and patient. The head chef was really supportive and got straight to the point. It was me (the stage) and 3 other kitchen staff. They had me learn most of one station, and I ended up handling about 60% of it. The interview after was brief but very useful. I learned a ton from the chef in the 8 hours I was there.
- Can you share your previous kitchen experience?
Executive Assistant
The interview process started off great. The Director of HR was very responsive and easy to talk to during the interview. Even the follow-up after the interview was very positive. Then, without any explanation, she simply stopped responding. It's baffling why this company, like so many others, doesn't have the decency to inform you that you're no longer being considered for the position. The lack of respect shown was a major disappointment.

Retail Associate
I applied online and then got called in. At the interview, I had to fill out a paper application. Then, on the first hiring day, I had to fill it out again for some reason. The questions were pretty basic, just asking about my past experience. They mentioned they were hiring because some people were suspended for being late and asked if I could be on time. The general manager asked me to write down my availability, but instead of specific times, I had to write AM or PM based on the shift. She said the PM shift ended at 2:00, which I agreed to. But on my first day, I learned it actually ended at 3:00, which conflicted with my class. She also told me to write PM even though I said I could only work until 7:00 PM on Wednesdays. Then she got mad when I said I couldn't work until 10:00 PM on Wednesdays after seeing the schedule, even though I told her my availability earlier.
- Tell me about your previous work history.
- Can you commit to arriving at work punctually?
- Please list your available times for work shifts.
General Manager
I first connected with the Director of Operations. After that, I had an interview. Then I did a trial at the location and met the team, including the Executive Chef and Assistant Manager. After that, I met with the NYC HR Director. Finally, I met with the executive team in Vegas and Yontville.
- Tell me about your people-focused approach and team-building objectives.
- How would you integrate with the team and leverage your experience?
- How would you oversee and support other parts of the business like Pastry, Catering, Delivery, and Retail?
