The HR person called me the day before the interview to schedule it for the next day. I thought it was strange that there was no phone screen or even a confirmation of my availability. They mentioned I might meet with 4 people, but I ended up meeting with 2. The hiring process seemed disorganized, with different HR people escorting me from the waiting area. The waiting area was in an open part of the HR office, which was uncomfortable. I also didn't receive a confirmation email with contact names. I was told to ask for one HR contact, but a different person greeted me. The most frustrating part is that they rejected my candidacy before I even got home. So, why the rush?

Behavioral Technical Group

It was a thorough interview process where I talked to different functional heads and the HR department. They asked both behavioral and task-specific questions. It started with a phone interview with the HR Manager. Then, I had a one-on-one with HR for a personality test and to complete background check paperwork. After that, there was a series of interviews with different departments: the Financial Controller of the division, the Financial Controller of another division, the VP of Operations, and the VP of Sales. Finally, I had another interview with HR where they extended an offer and scheduled my orientation.

It was a really laid-back interview. I got a call from the hiring manager for the region, and we decided to meet up at a coffee shop. It was kind of out of the way, but we grabbed some coffee and just chatted about the job. They asked me about my experience with electrical work and if I was okay with traveling around the state for work, plus a yearly trip to corporate for training.

You'd expect a CAD test for a drafting job, which was fine. But the test itself was flawed. I finished their 45-minute test in about 10 minutes and pointed out the issues. After that, the interview was pretty standard. They asked typical questions like "What are your strengths/weaknesses?". I was hired right away.
