First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Thom Browne.
Designer
The process was long, about 8 months. I was interviewing from afar and had to fly in several times. HR was well meaning but disorganized and rescheduled several appointments last minute. They asked for an extensive project, and then later cancelled the search, even though they had been conducting it for a while. Six months later, they used the project and all the technicals for several runway collections. There was no compensation for this. They never ended up filling that position.
- Can you describe your design process?
- What are your key technical strengths?
- What aspects of the Thom Browne brand resonate with you?
Knitwear Designer
I applied for the role via my school's career services, and then an assistant from the knitwear department reached out to set up an interview. I brought a bunch of resumes and some of my schoolwork. The interview itself was pretty quick, with two people from the knitwear team. I talked a bit about myself and my background, showed off my portfolio, and we chatted for a bit.
- Regarding technical drawing for tech packs, how much experience do you have?
- Could you spend one week producing a series of drawings for a garment you've made to show your skills?
Account Executive
I had two interviews, one with the VP of Sales and another with the sales director. The whole process was pretty easy. Each interview lasted about an hour and the questions were straightforward. HR got back to me in about a month, but they responded quickly.
- Tell me about a time you solved a problem.
Intern
It was intimating because it was in a small room. The interview went smoothly and I had to wait 10 mins before my interviewer showed up. The interviewer looked through everything I brought in, and gave some feedback. Explained the position.
- What are your goals for this internship?
