Behavioral Technical Presentation

I reached out about the City Manager role and a week later got a message to set up a phone interview. We had to reschedule the first interview last minute because of a technical issue on their end, which was weird for a tech company. I think maybe the interviewer just forgot. The call then turned into a video chat, which went okay. I was really annoyed because every time I tried to talk more about myself, the interviewer kept cutting me off. But he immediately scheduled a second and third interview, saying he assumed I'd get it and was a perfect fit. The second interview was a video chat with the same guy and another person. Again, more interruptions. They brushed off my actual questions or gave really vague answers. It felt like they didn't know how to do the job themselves and wanted me to come up with specific expansion plans and business models on the spot without any data. One of them even asked if I thought 'a man could do this job better' than me. Classic sexism in tech! The third interview, which was already scheduled, was 'rescheduled,' which really meant cancelled, but they didn't say that. I emailed to follow up a week after the second video chat but heard nothing back. I know no news means no job, which is fine. But ghosting a candidate after hours of interviews is disrespectful and unprofessional.

Behavioral Technical

I sent in my resume and got a video chat with a recruiter who was late. He kept cutting me off when I tried to answer his questions, which weren't clear anyway. He'd pause for a whole minute before his next question. It felt like he was unprepared, which was awkward and unprofessional. I think recruiters should be as ready as I am. Then there was a second video interview where the recruiter wanted to dig deeper into job-specific questions. More interruptions happened. The third video chat had two interviewers, a woman and a man. The woman didn't ask anything. The man rushed through his questions, and with only 5 minutes left, he asked the woman if she had any questions for me. He also interrupted me a lot while I was answering. It didn't seem like they worked well together. The guy was also condescending when I asked him questions. I started out excited for all these interviews, but by the end, I was just glad they were done. The constant interruptions by the men and the lack of interest in what I was saying made it obvious they didn't really see what I could bring to the table.

Behavioral Technical Other

I was contacted quickly by their V.P. of Marketing for a phone interview. Then a few days after received an interview request for a video interview with the other email marketing manager. It went great and I was told the next steps would be a work project and then meeting with the CEO. I did the work project which took about 4 hours and I never heard from the company again, they completely ghosted me. I emailed both of them to ask an update on the interview process and neither of them bothered to even write me back that I was no longer being considered. I'd advise other applicants to be weary on taking time to complete a work project for them.

Behavioral Technical Other

The interview process involved 3 video calls, each lasting about an hour. There was also an email challenge at the end, but I didn't complete that part. It was a thorough and lengthy process overall, but a good experience. Thinkful put a lot of effort into finding the right person for their team, asking questions that varied in difficulty and were often situation-based. The recruiter was responsive via email and flexible with scheduling. The team members during my final interview were knowledgeable about the role and asked insightful questions to understand the company's needs. The questions felt relevant to the position, and by the end, I felt very positive about Thinkful and its prospects.
