I went through two phone interviews that weren't too tough, mostly just general questions about my background. I got a positive signal for moving forward, but then I didn't hear back. I reached out and found out they had hired someone else. The job was focused on 3D reconstruction of bones and hips, which I feel I'm good at, so it was a bummer to get that news.

I had a phone interview with HR, then another phone interview with the hiring manager. After that, there was a single on-site interview which was pretty long, about 5 hours total, and included a 30-minute test. Throughout the on-site, different people came in every half hour, like HR, software engineers, firmware folks, the software manager, a director, and even the CEO. They made an offer the following week. I had made my expected compensation clear to HR and on paper, but the offer was way lower than I anticipated, and HR was surprised when I questioned it. I turned down the offer because of this big difference. Overall, it seems like a decent place to work, and the CEO has a clear plan and is trying to focus more on software development. I'm a bit unsure about the company's future though, as their vision might change a lot, and some concerning signs made me doubt my own commitment.

I had three telephone interviews. All three interviewers quizzed me C++. One of them also quizzed me on Math and algorithms. Some questions were quite difficult. On-site interviews were similar. They made me describe some of my recent work, quizzed me on that. Again, quizzed me on C++. Overall, they asked me some really good questions, it was challenging and fun. The team I interviewed with (Surgical Planning Team) were all very nice people. I declined the offer because I had a better offer from elsewhere.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • Lots of C++ questions.
  • Advanced knowledge of C++ will score you lots of points.
