First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Thermo Fisher Scientific.
Software QA Engineer
I had a technical interview where they tested a small application. After that, I interviewed with the manager. The manager asked me technical questions, including one about recursion. They also asked me personal questions about my background and future plans, like my 5-year plan, what I expect from the company, and the biggest challenge I see for myself in the job. They didn't ask many testing-specific questions.
- How would you approach solving a problem with recursion?
- Can you tell me about your background?
- What are your long-term career aspirations?
Quality Control
The interviewer was great and everyone was lovely. That was until I started following up for updates after the interview. They completely ghosted me. It's not that hard to just copy paste a rejection template. I don't think I'd want to work somewhere that disrespects all the time and effort I put into interviewing. It seems unprofessional to me.
- Can you describe your background and experience?
- What makes you a good fit for this position?
Quality Engineer
The interview itself was good. The hiring manager and a staff quality engineer took me through the interview on Microsoft teams. The interview format was quite standard with competency based questions but the tone was friendly throughout and I had ample opportunity to ask questions myself. Due to business changes the role was withdrawn but I never received any feedback on my interview which was disappointing. Overall I had a positive impression of the company and would consider applying again in the future.
- Can you share an instance where you made an error in your work and discuss how you would approach it differently if given another chance?
