First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Thermo Fisher Scientific.
Account Manager
The interview was fair, though the interviewer was 5 minutes late, which I suspect was intentional. Overall, the process was nice, but I felt pressured and like my input wasn't valued.
- Can you tell me about your strengths?
- What makes you a good fit for this role?
Account Manager
After a good first impression, a recruiter called me for a first chat over the phone where I talked about my background and why I'm interested in this account manager role. Then, we had more interviews that got into the nitty-gritty of account management, both technically and functionally, where I showed how I build client relationships and hit sales goals. They also asked behavioral questions about how I solve problems and work in teams, which are super important for account management. A panel interview with the team was next, which helped confirm I'd fit in. After that, they did reference checks, and I got a full job offer with all the details on pay and benefits. I accepted, and then it was time for onboarding, which included paperwork, learning the policies, and getting integrated with the account management crew.
- Can you share an instance where you didn't meet a sales target?
- Describe a situation where you collaborated with a team.
- How would you handle a customer complaint?
Account Manager
I had two phone interviews and then three in-person meetings. I felt like all my interviews went well. I took half a day off work. I sent thank you notes to everyone I met. After two weeks of not hearing back, I emailed HR, then the hiring manager, but got no response. I think this is unprofessional and rude. I expected better from a big company. Very disappointed.
- Basic questions, just average.
