First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Westminster Schools.
Teacher
I had a phone interview first. Then, the second part was a Zoom interview with the director/chair of my department and the principal.
- Can you provide an example of how you've collaborated within a team?
Assistant Director of Annual Giving
Before the main interviews, I had a half-day of meetings with most of the team, which also included a campus tour. It was a lot to meet so many people in a short time, but they were very thorough in their evaluation.
- Can you discuss your relevant background and experience?
Marketing Specialist
This was one of the most unprofessional interview experiences I have ever had. I went through a phone screen, and then was passed up the chain to interview with a person in a senior role. We had a great hour long phone conversation, and this person told me they would get back to me the following week with a decision. Well I never heard from them or anyone else from this school again. The unprofessionalism is frankly shocking. At least send a polite form email informing me of that decision. To be completely ghosted like this, from a "higher up" at this school, just makes me shake my head. If this is how they conduct themselves, I know I only dodged a bullet by not working there.
- Tell me about yourself.
- What are your strengths and weaknesses?
- Why are you interested in this role?
Teacher
It started with an email, then a phone call, followed by a Skype interview. After that, I got invited to visit the campus. I had to teach a lesson with several people observing, which is pretty standard. The people were friendly and seemed to have a unified, positive outlook on the school.
- Can you tell us about your thoughts and feelings regarding the school?
- Do you have any standard questions for us?
