& Process

The process included a recruiter screen, but I opted out because it was private equity. The questions were basic and easy, covering past experience and interest in the job. No technical or quantitative questions were asked, and no whiteboarding was involved. I was supposed to do two more rounds but declined.

I got referred by a well-known staffing agency that WC uses to hire employees. I made it through all the rounds and was invited to a final interview. I got to the interview and sold myself on a solid interview, answered questions about Google stack and axedus/Ad Wich which is active directory. Come to find out they decided to pass on me and not hire anyone. Then I politely asked for feedback, it was explained by the interviewer to my agency that I fluffed up my resume. At that point I was super offended that some company such as their stature could say such a thing. If I got through college with a BA in cyber security engineering and served in the United States Navy, I have no reason to fluff my resume. Of course the interviewer felt like he must discuss the battle between WC and their new buyer IBM. My recruiter was so upset about how everything went he flew from his location to speak with the interviewer personally. Come to find out they had 30 other perfect fits for that position and they did not hire them either. My recruiter wanted to ask them to reconsider, I advised my recruiter not to even bother, because if they are this horrible in an interview, I wonder how bad it would be becoming an employee. Regardless of it all, I already had an offer with a fantastic company that heard about the WC and they increased my pay just to have me come aboard their team. The interview was exactly the same as WC questions and all. I gladly accepted their offer and I start Tuesday. I will not blame all of WC but I will blame their rude interviewer. That department is just so toxic and I'm glad I got a taste or got passed over, I avoided a train wreck. Also they lied about the questions I was asked in the interview saying I was making up answers WOW JUST WOW! The questions that were asked of me where completely different than what they told the recruiter and that was confirmed, what a corporate joke. I guess bigger is never better.

So weather channel reached out to me to poach me. I took time out of my work day for multiple phone interviews and an in-person interview. I was given high praise during all steps in the process, especially the in-person interview. I was told I would be hearing back from them very soon. I sent thank you emails to all involved and was awaiting word. Several weeks went by without any response. I had to assume I didn't get the position. I was misled and apparently couldn't be given a notification that I was declined. I accommodated their needs and timing every step of the way.

So first, there was this phone screening where they asked about basic stuff. Then they sent me a coding challenge, which was kinda cool because it used some new technologies I hadn't really used before. After that, I went in for an in-person interview with the teams I'd be working with. Honestly, I wasn't really a perfect fit for the role, we were both kind of stretching the qualifications. They ended up hiring someone who knew their tech stack better than I did, so I didn't get an offer.
