First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Vertex Companies.
Project Engineer
The interview process had two 30-minute chats, which felt pretty casual. First, I talked to a recruiter, and then to the hiring manager. The recruiter wasn't able to answer many of my questions and passed them on to the hiring manager. The hiring manager seemed to avoid giving clear answers to some basic questions. I got an offer, but then it was taken back when I asked for a third meeting with another team member. I guess it's good I found out now.
- Can you describe your previous work experience?
- What's your approach to dealing with stress?
- Would you consider relocating for a position in a different location?
Vice President Human Resource Strategy
Super long interview with a recruiter who talked a lot. There were definitely some red flags. She told me stuff about the company's future that seemed weird or at least not great for a new hire and couldn't answer simple questions about who reports to whom. Lots of her answers were just guesses, making me think she didn't know or was just making it up. She talked about a tiny team, and I just thought she'd have to be replaced fast. The company looks like it's about to grow, and this job seems super important for that.
- Can you walk me through your past positions?
- Could you share an example of [behavioral question context]?
Sales Development Representative
I first spoke with a recruiter for a phone screen, which was pretty basic, mostly about my background and if I knew about the company. Then I was supposed to talk to the hiring manager, but they were out of town. So they rescheduled me with a director, but honestly, it felt weird because that director wasn't going to be the one making the final call, since the person who was supposed to interview me wasn't even there.
- In what ways does your experience make you a good fit for this role?
Human Resources Coordinator
It was with 3 team members. The HR Talent Director, another Team Member, and an additional Hiring Manager. It was a formal interview where each person asked their own questions. If you're good with the job, you'll be fine.
- In what ways do you believe you can contribute the most to our team?
- Do you consider yourself proficient in Excel?
- Which HRIS systems are you familiar with?
