First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The University of Texas Medical Branch.
Registered Nurse
The interview was quick, polite and easy to understand. I met my possible future coworkers. The area was clean and organized. Hopefully I will get the position. Expectations were met, and there was transparency of the organization. They also encouraged employee growth.
- What are your expectations?
Mental Health Clinician
The interview was pretty chill and relaxed. They asked me some questions, and I just answered them, no stress at all. They told me about some cool holidays you might not know about. I got to ask them stuff too, and they gave me some feedback. It felt like I was leaving with friends at the end. It was a really great interview, and one of the interviewers said he really liked interviewing with me that day, which was nice.
- Have you ever had to report yourself to your supervisor for doing something wrong?
Postdoctoral Fellow
At UTMB, the interview process usually has many steps, sometimes involving talking to different managers. From what you told me, it seems like there were two rounds. The first round was an interview with the hiring manager or supervisor, who would probably be your direct boss. The second round was with a more senior manager or director, maybe someone in upper management who thinks about how the job affects the whole department or company. They check your skills, experience, and if you’re a good fit for the job and the team. It's also your chance to find out more about the job, the team, and the company culture. - Can you introduce yourself?
- How do you cope with stress and pressure?
- What are your salary expectations?
Training Specialist
I'm reviewing this because they haven't given me any feedback after the interview, which was 26 days ago. The interview was on MS Teams with members of the training team. They asked me to get ready and give a 10-minute presentation, which would happen after some questions. The interview included questions about skills and how I'd handle different situations, plus my experience with certain tools and tasks. It's not okay to ghost candidates after a meeting like this, especially when you asked them to do work beforehand. The meeting itself was okay (it focused on a system I'm not really interested in working with), but I feel like I avoided a bad situation.
- Could you please put together a presentation that lasts 10 minutes?
