First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The University of Iowa Center for Advancement.
Development Director
First met with the Hiring Manager and HR for a casual chat and simple questions. Then there was a long session with different people from the company, followed by a chat with a "recruitment ambassador" where I could ask questions more openly.
- Why are you interested in this role?
Administrative Associate
The interview process started with a screening call on Zoom. After that, I went in for an in-person interview. It included 4 separate interviews with 7 people and lasted for 2 and a half hours. It was pretty intense, but everyone was really friendly and helped me feel more comfortable. Unfortunately, I didn't get the job, which was a bummer after going through such a demanding interview process.
- Can you explain how your background aligns with the requirements of this role?
Associate Director
It started with a 30 minute phone interview. Then 3 candidates moved to in-person interviews. This included an hour with the supervisor, a 45 minute panel with the team, another 45 minute panel with people they'd work with, a 30 minute chat with HR, and a 30 minute meeting with a random employee to ask about UICA, Iowa City, and anything else.
- Can you share how your previous experience could shape how different organizations interact with each other?
Intern
I had two people who would be my summer coworkers interview me. They were more focused on discussing what I was interested in learning and assessing my potential than on testing my ability to do specific tasks.
- What are your learning goals for this internship?
