Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Trade Desk.
Director
It was a thorough process. First, there was a Talent Advisor Screening, then a Talent Director for culture match. After that, rounds with the Business Lead, Account Lead, Sales Lead, and Revenue Lead, each with a different focus. It felt like a well-structured path because each part had a different context. Plus, using an interview platform gave good visibility into where I was in the process.
- How would you enhance client service excellence?
- Imagine this scenario as a client; try to sell me on it.
Director
Recruiters don't get back to you. It was a standard phone screen. Had a decent chat, the person seemed alright, but then radio silence. They used some generic corporate phrases like 'big family' and 'entrepreneurial.' It wasn't tough but felt pretty standard. Don't be surprised if you never hear back; I've heard the same from others. My guess is they were fishing for company intel. Pretty typical.
- Can you share your experience with X?
Director
I found this role on LinkedIn and a recruiter reached out pretty fast. We had an initial phone chat about the job and my experience. Then, I spoke with the hiring manager on the phone. After that, I went in for a 3-hour in-person interview with 4 different people from different teams, all one-on-one, including the hiring manager. The fifth round was a phone call with the SVP of the department. The sixth round was an in-person meeting with the CCO. Finally, I had another conversation with the recruiter and then some email stuff about a background check. Once that was done, I had one more call with the recruiter, and then we got into the offer and negotiations. Everyone was super nice throughout the whole thing and seemed really enthusiastic about the company. Scheduling follow-ups usually happened within a day or 1-2 days.
- Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
- Could you walk me through your background?
- What's your understanding of this industry?
