First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Standard Marketing.
Customer Acquisition
My first interview was pretty laid-back. They told me a lot about the job and the company. They asked the usual stuff about why I'm interested in the company and why I want to be in sales. It was just the first one, so no offer yet.
- What makes you want a career in sales?
Marketing Manager
First, there was a quick zoom call where they asked me some questions about myself and then some quality questions. They didn't share much about the job itself until the in-person interview. They also asked if I was looking for a full-time role and if I had my own transportation to get to the office.
- If you were stranded on a desert island, and you had food, water, and shelter provided, what two items would you choose to bring?
Sales and Marketing Team Lead
I had three interviews, the first was a phone screener to see if I was a good fit. The second was a zoom call with HR to discuss the role more. The third was a more formal interview with details about the role. I felt the job posting and HR description were misleading because the role is actually sales-focused and commission-based, with in-person sales at retail locations. I applied for Marketing And Public Relations Specialist, but HR thought my resume was a good match for Sales & Marketing Team Lead.
- What is driving your career change?
- Given your limited management experience, how do you plan to compensate for this compared to other candidates?
Marketing Sales Lead
The recruiter reached out to me via text/email saying I was a great fit even though I never applied. Then they set up a 15-minute Zoom call with me and other candidates, which they didn't tell me about beforehand. After that, I had a formal interview where I had to present a slideshow about the company's benefits and what they do. I'm now doing research and seeing some negative things about the company, so I'm not sure if I want to move forward.
- What is your desired pay rate?
