First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Spice & Tea Exchange.
Head Office
I applied online and got an email to set up a quick 15-minute phone screen with a recruiter. It was a good chat. After that, they invited me in person. I met the team, saw the office, and had a nice interview. They sent over a job offer two days after I got home.
- Can you tell me about your personality and how you interact with others?
- What qualities make you a reliable employee, and how do you demonstrate them?
- What specifically interests you about our company and this role?
E-commerce Manager
The hiring process took about two weeks to reach the phone screening stage. Before the call, I had already sent in responses to a few follow-up questions via email and finished the Predictive Index Assessment. About a week after the phone interview, I got a nice email saying I didn't make it further. Even though I couldn't meet the team face-to-face, it was a good way to learn more about the company's leadership and overall culture.
- Can you describe your experience using analytics and how you've calculated campaign ROI?
- What is your total years of experience in digital marketing?
- What is your total years of experience in merchandising?
Sales Associate
I met with the owner, and we had a 2-hour chat about everything except the actual job. Then, I was asked to come in for a 2-hour observation to see if it was a good fit. The owner was super flexible with scheduling and really accommodating. I went in for the observation, and they had me start working. I got an offer and was given new hire paperwork. On my first day, I worked a 5-hour shift. After that, they didn't give me a schedule for the next day. I tried for two days to reach the owner about my schedule. Finally, I got a call back and was told they couldn't accommodate my schedule, even though they had previously said it wouldn't be a problem. She mentioned I'd get paid for my time right as she was trying to hang up, and I had to remind her that she didn't even have my address for the check. So far, they've gotten 7 hours of work from me, and I'm not sure I'll ever get paid. It was really unprofessional.
- Tell me about your goals outside of your career.
Executive
The interview process was very disorganized and unprofessional. After two promising interviews, I was ghosted. It was a very poor experience overall, and I can't recommend this company. Don't waste your time here.
