First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Spark Group.
Digital & Social Media Specialist
It felt pretty chill. I met the team and talked with Daniela and Amy. We started by chatting about The Spark Group, their clients, and past projects. Then they showed some examples of their work and asked if I'd be into that kind of stuff. After that, we went over my background and CV, plus some questions I'd already done on the application. I got to ask my questions too, and they were curious about my skills, what I wanted to get better at or learn. Honestly, it was like hanging out with friends on a Saturday. We talked about work, life, and hobbies, so much so we went over our time. It was a really relaxed and friendly chat.
- Can you explain the significance of SEO and SEM from your perspective, and what strategies would you employ to enhance a client's SEO?
- How important are SEO and SEM to you, and what techniques would you use to improve a client's SEO?
Photographer
I got contacted about a photographer/retoucher job with TSG and we set up a Skype interview. They had to reschedule the day of, first to later that day, then to the next week. I picked the earlier option. On the day of the interview, my contact was 15 minutes late, then joined, then left after 5 minutes without contact. I tried emailing and calling to follow up but got no response. After the long weekend, I tried again with no luck. It was a bummer because the job is listed again. I guess this is to let others know this might happen.
- What makes you stand out?
- What is your availability?
- Is rescheduling possible?
Web Designer and Developer
I got an email from the person conducting the interviews for the internship position a few days after applying. We set a day for an interview soon. There was a bit of confusion and the person mistaken the time I was supposed to come in but I was still interviewed that same day. I did receive a positive feedback from the work I presented. After being interviewed they told me that since they had just started interviewing people they would email me about the position towards the end of the month. Towards the end of the month they still hadn't contacted me about the position. Eventually I email my interviewer about the position but I never got a response. It would have been nice to get a response even if it wasn't an offer.
- Regarding client-side files, are you proficient in organization and management?
- Between design and development, which do you prefer?
User Experience Designer
It was a lot of challenging but interesting questions. Even with that, the interview felt like a conversation. I think they were trying to gauge my flow and familiarity with concepts in regular speak. I appreciated how much time they spent explaining the company and the position on their end.
- What's the reason for the graphic and developmental disabilities differences across different sites?
- Why are these designs suitable (or not suitable) for the companies that use them?
