First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Smart Cube.
Research Analyst
My first interview round involved an introduction, some guesstimates, and a question about why I want to join the company. I also got to ask a question at the end. The next day, I had a second round which was unexpected. I was only given a 5-minute notice. This round was more of an HR interview, starting with introductions, then discussing my skills, why I want to join, and why they should hire me. I struggled to articulate my thoughts well, and unfortunately, I wasn't selected. I was quite disappointed as I thought I had a good chance.
- Tell me about yourself.
- Could you solve these guesstimates?
- What are your motivations for joining us?
Research Analyst
So, it was a 3 round interview process. 2 rounds were technical interviews and 1 was an HR interview. Most of the questions were related to the finance domain I was in. I had done a live project on valuation which led to most of the questions. Besides that, they also asked about financial ratios during the interview.
- Can you explain how to calculate FCFF?
- What is the valuation of a company before and after a merger?
Research Analyst
I sent an email for a job I saw online. A third party contacted me, probably because they didn't know much about the process. They told me I'd be going to an assessment center. First, there was a 30 min presentation about the company. Then, we had 75 minutes to complete a test. There were 4 of us. The test had logical problems (2 with data and questions, 3 standalone), and an English part with 50 multiple-choice questions about grammar and spelling. Finally, we had to write a 150-word essay on either social networking's pros/cons or anti-smoking campaign effectiveness.
No confirmed questions were included in this interview report.
