First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Salvation Army.
Store Associate
So, for the interview process, it was like a face-to-face thing. They asked some pretty standard questions about how you'd fit into the company, not too hard. Then there was a written test with some writing parts, like full paragraphs, and some basic math stuff. They were checking how well you communicate, solve problems, and if your math skills were up to par. The last part was an in-person chat with the store manager to see if you'd be a good fit overall, if you seemed professional, and if you knew your stuff for the job.
- Can you share one important characteristic you'd bring to this job?
Cashier
The interview was pretty simple. As long as you showed up on time and were patient, it went fine. The questions weren't hard, and it felt pretty chill. It was more about showing you were responsible and professional, not really a test.
- Were you asked if you knew how to use the register?
- Were you asked if you would be willing to take on additional responsibilities when not on the register?
Cashier
It was a straightforward interview, just me and the manager. A big focus was on my credit history, they really needed to make sure there wasn't anything negative on there because that could lead to them not offering me the job. I was surprised a role like this had those kinds of requirements.
- What makes you want to join the Salvation Army team?
- Tell me about your credit history and any potential negative items.
