A recruiter from Google reached out to me about a role. The first screening was super fast and they wished me well. Then I had one call with a Google employee. Most questions were broad and abstract, not really about my background.

I interviewed for a consultant role and had a series of phone and zoom interviews, first with the recruiter, then with company managers. The recruiter made the process very smooth and speedy.

I was connected with them via a referral from a former junior colleague of mine who had recently accepted an opportunity for a role with Google doing the EXACT same role I was doing at our company. Since they were hiring a second person to join the team, he knew it made sense to connect us. Unfortunately I was matched up with a different interviewer at Sage than the one my former colleague had. I could tell from the get go that this person was not knowledgeable about the role/qualifications and therefore was not comprehending how my experience was a fit. I even had to remind them that I was referred and that the reason I was referred was because I was already doing the exact same role at a high level for another organization. Big surprise, I never heard back and advanced. This should have been a slam dunk to receive a second round where I would actually get to meet with Google. And if they then determined I wasn't a fit then so be it ... but it is bonkers that I wasn't even able to reach that stage. Instead these recruiters are just like all of the rest ... they don't understand how to retain the information and it leads to a poor candidate experience. I would highly recommend not wasting your time with this recruiting agency.

I've heard from The Sage Group a few times about jobs over the last few years. Each time, they reach out with interest and talk nicely, but it always ends with no follow-up or anything. It starts friendly and professional, but they keep ghosting me, so it's frustrating and hard to take seriously anymore. If they just communicated better and followed through, it would be a lot better for candidates.
