The interview process started with a general get-to-know-you chat. Then, it seemed to be standard for Starwood/Marriott to ask "Tell me a time when" questions, so be prepared for that to be the entire interview. There were no traditional interview questions, and I don't think the questions asked really indicate what kind of worker you are. At the end, I asked about the next steps, and they said I'd get a call by the end of the week with a decision. The week ended with no call. The following week, I followed up, still nothing. I called again and spoke to a receptionist who said they'd be in touch. I never got a callback or an explanation for not getting the job. Since The Phoenician is a Marriott hotel, I expected more professionalism from their HR or the department, like actually calling to explain what happened. Because of this experience, I'm reconsidering future applications with this company.

Interviewing for Bartender at Il Terrazzo was pretty straightforward. I met with the manager who asked a bunch of questions, wanting examples of past situations. It felt more like chatting than an interrogation, so the questions were pretty easy to answer. Just a heads-up, the training lasts a few weeks, and you won't see any money until it's all on your paycheck, so expect to work for about a month before you're really earning.

The interview process was very straightforward. The restaurant seemed really short-staffed, so they were eager to hire anyone, even though I have a lot of experience and good references. They called me for an interview less than a week after I applied online. The managers interviewed me in the restaurant itself, asking standard questions from what seemed like an interview guide. These were very typical customer service questions like 'define customer service' and 'tell us about a challenge you faced and how you handled it'. Then, I met with HR the next day and they offered me the job, pending a drug test, background check, and reference check. I had to wait two weeks to start because they hold a 3-day orientation every two weeks. It was a bit dull, but the person running it tried her best to make it interesting. We got paid to attend and do group activities, plus sample food from different places. The only downside was having to go through orientation, then my actual job training, which was a lot to get through before I could start working independently and earn my own tips.

First, there's the online Application. Next, you'll have an in-person interview with restaurant staff, which is where most of the questions are. Finally, there's an in-person interview and drug test with human resources, which is easier.
