& Process

I applied online and then emailed the GM and he emailed me asking me to come in the next day for an interview with 2 managers, the GM and the restaurant manager. It probably took about 30 minutes.

I applied in person, and they asked me some basic questions about my experience and schedule. I didn't hear back for two months. Then, I had my first interview with a manager, which was a one-on-one. She was really nice and easy to talk to. The questions were pretty standard. A few days later, after they checked my references, I had a second interview with the assistant general manager. This one was mostly about my schedule availability, and they also gave me a quick rundown of the hiring process and orientation. I started working about three weeks after the interviews.

I applied online and got a call the next day to schedule an interview for the following week. When I got there, the place was closed, so I had to call the manager to let me in. That interview was very brief, we only talked for 5 minutes before we set up another interview for the next week. Again when I got there, the place was closed, so a manager had to let me in, but it took him over 15 minutes, and I had to stand outside in the cold. That really wasn't fun, but I kept a smile on my face. He asked me basic hosting questions, and then said he would call to set up a 3rd interview. I never received a call.

It began with a standard phone interview. Things went well, and I was informed that the next step would be an interview with either a District Manager or a General Manager. The following week, I interviewed with a General Manager. The questions were similar to the phone interview but more in-depth. I was told I'd need another interview, a 'working interview/get to know us' type. The next week, I went to another location for this working interview. I spent 3.5 hours working with FOH managers and in the kitchen, and they asked me a lot of questions. At the end, the GM there said the District Manager had been contacted and would meet with me in the coming days. I was neither paid nor fed during this working interview. The District Manager contacted me for a fourth interview. He asked the same questions as the phone interview and had no notes from previous stages. He mentioned I sell myself well but they usually hire internally. It felt like a waste of time and gas, and was highly unprofessional. I wouldn't recommend applying for management if you're an outsider.
