I sent in my application and heard back from the recruiter about 4 weeks later. We had a brief initial chat on Teams, and then a few days later, I went in for an on-site interview with the studio manager and the head of CG. They were all friendly and professional. A few days after that, the recruiter let me know that the role I interviewed for was no longer needed at that studio. Overall, it was pretty disappointing.

I initially applied for the position on a freelancer site. I did one project for them and received zero feedback or communication. Someone from the NYC office finally got back to me two months later asking if I would like to be involved in other projects. We set up a phone interview and then a few emails were exchanged. After sending over employment paperwork, which I filled out and got back to them right away, I followed up several times and each time I was told things were still "in the works" for the position. Ultimately, there was no position and no further communication from this terrible company. I never heard a single thing back from anyone. Just unbelievably disorganized, uncommunicative, and unprofessional. Avoid at all costs.

I applied online and immediately got an interview. While scheduling, someone from The Mill also reached out on LinkedIn for an interview. The first interview was a recruiter screener who didn't know the salary range. The second was with the head of production and head of HR. It was a really weird experience; they talked a lot but said nothing, and their answers were unclear. They couldn't really explain the role or expectations, which was a huge red flag, reminding me of past jobs where things weren't organized. For instance, when I asked about how expectations are set and success is measured, they just talked about how common promotions are, which wasn't what I asked.

They came to my school and did an initial interview with me and some other people. Then, a few weeks later, I had a follow-up interview on Skype. I talked with their Talent Manager, two designer/animators, and then one of their directors. The first part was mostly about checking my skills and seeing if my personality and interest in the company were a good fit. The second interview was more personal. Everyone was really nice, upfront, and honest.
