The interview process started with a phone screen with the hiring manager. This was followed by a lengthy, four-and-a-half-hour panel interview session. This session included a coding exercise where candidates were asked to "share your screen and code this." The overall experience during the coding exercise felt unfriendly and not enjoyable, suggesting a lack of awareness from the company regarding how off-putting this style can be. For a remote team, effective collaboration over video is crucial, and this part of the interview lacked preparation and effort, not even providing an online environment for pair programming or a file with instructions (which had to be requested via chat). Having two engineers involved in the coding portion also felt awkward, akin to having two people looking over your shoulder while you code. In contrast, the hiring manager was easy to talk to. The individuals involved in the architecture and experience discussion portion were also pleasant and knowledgeable, and this part was considered the most valuable of the entire interview process.

I applied and had a 10 min screening the next day. We scheduled a Zoom interview where they asked mainly situational questions then normal interview/experience questions. We scheduled a second Zoom interview where I was told the conversation went very well and I was asked to send an email stating I was still interested and why I wanted to work for The Meet Group. I didn’t hear anything back and sent a follow up email asking if the position had been filled and never got a response.

Got a message from a recruiter on LinkedIn about needing data engineers to build their data pipeline and data warehouse from scratch. We scheduled a phone call, but the recruiter missed it. I emailed them about it, and they set up another time. Finally had the call, where they asked about my background and what they wanted to build. The recruiter said my background was awesome and I should hear back soon. After that, I never heard from them again. I messaged and emailed them, but no reply. Seems like they don't respect job seekers.
