First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Learning House.
Enrollment Counselor
I applied and then got a phone interview scheduled within 24 hours. I had to do three assessments over the weekend before the phone interview. The phone interview lasted about 35 minutes, where they asked me general questions about myself and told me about the job. Then they scheduled an in-person interview for the next day. The in-person interview was about an hour long with two employees, one of them a manager. They had some notes but it felt more like a conversation.
- Are you more of a 'hunter' or a 'gatherer' type of person?
Enrollment Tuition Planner
The interview experience was super uncomfortable and awkward. I went into a room and there were three interviewers waiting for me with two sheets of paper, like a questionnaire. They were all really cold and didn't smile at all the whole time. It felt like an interrogation, with them firing questions at me for thirty minutes. I personally think interviewers should try to have a conversation and show they're listening. It was pretty unpleasant. The questions they asked were super generic, like you'd find if you just googled "typical interview questions." So you could totally prepare for them beforehand, which seems kinda lazy. They said their HR department would contact me in 2-3 weeks because the company is growing fast and they're understaffed. It feels like a really long time to wait for feedback. It's only been a week so I don't know the outcome yet, but if I hadn't seen the office culture, which seems young and laid-back, I'd be hesitant to accept an offer based on the interview alone.
- Can you share an instance from a past role where you exceeded expectations?
Student Success Coach
First was a Phone interview. Second was a 6 panel interview. I was extended an offer after that. Pay desires were not met and I had to compromise there. It was a fairly easy process, overall. Not all interviews follow this model though. Some are just one on one interviews and others were 3 panel interviews. This depends upon how desperate for workers the department is at the time making the quality of the workforce highly varied.
- How would you handle a situation where a teammate is underperforming?
Marketing
Had a 20-minute chat with my potential supervisor. It wasn't stressful and the questions were pretty simple. They mostly asked about me and my knowledge of The Learning House. They also gave me a detailed rundown of the job.
