The position I applied for was already closed by the time I could interview. I appreciate the recruiter reaching out to let me know. She was nice and professional, and even sent me a lead for a job at a similar company I could check out.

Leadership Institute's hiring process is spread out, with individual hiring managers handling job postings, applicant identification, and the interview/hiring process. Once applicants advance to the next stage, the hiring manager sends the paperwork to their VP for approval, then to the Executive VP who also needs to sign off. After that, HR gets the paperwork.

Twice now, I was asked to make custom writing samples and then never heard back. When prompted, they told me I would hear back, and then I never did. Again. For the second time. Fool me once, shame on me...

I sent in my application online through Conservative jobs, including my resume, a writing sample, and my stance on certain policies. A few days later, I got a call asking some basic questions about my qualifications and why I'm a good fit, plus if I had a laptop, driver's license, and a car. Later that same day, someone else called and invited me to come to DC for a week-long tryout for the job. For that whole week, around 58 of us were competing for 25 Field Rep positions. The process involved classroom learning on how to succeed in the role, followed by practical exercises in the field to assess our performance.
